Bree Sharp’s star-studded salute to David Duchovny

If you’ve never heard of Bree Sharp, David Duchovny or the song David Duchovny (Why Won’t You Love Me): In 1999, singer/songwriter Bree Sharp penned a witty ode to America’s favorite alien-hunting FBI agent, as played by actor David Duchovny. That song was then transformed into the above cameo-ridden tribute, with Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Whoopi Goldberg, KISS, and anyone else who might have happened to be on the Fox lot that day taking a moment to lip-sync their love for the X-Files star. It is one of the coolest nerd bootlegs ever, and someone has gone to the trouble of uploading a remastered version, and dear sir, we salute you.

If you’ve heard of Bree Sharp, David Duchovny, etc.: OMG you guys the David Duchovny video just got reposted in HD OMG OMG OMG! OMG.

My favorite moments of this: Tyler Durden in the hallway, Janeane Garofalo on the couch, and, of course, the very end when Gillian Anderson accidentally hits the camera with the door… she’s adorable. So much fun to watch. 

My inspiration would be what I always tell myself when I feel utterly defeated - when I hear about the Koch Brothers and the Union busting and the trying to [force] photo IDs for voting - I always say, just remember, ultimately the right-wingers never ever win; because society keeps progressing without them. If conservatives and right-wingers were victorious we would still own slaves, women wouldn’t vote, there would be no birth control, no public school education, […] there would still be a Triangle Shirtwaist Factory if right-wingers ultimately won.

It was great to hear Janeane talking with Sam Seder again, it’s been quite some time - I especially liked her point about society moving forward and “progressing without them”. I hope she’s right.
