Hidden quiet clean a silent land
Where shrubs and oaks and grass and tall trees stand
Planted by God and angels all by hand”

Every so often I come back to this for inspiration. Of all the amazing, talented people who worked on early Disney films, Earle is, by far, my favorite.

1) Driving home from work just after a storm. 2) Having a pre-birthday dinner at Zach’s Cafe. 3) Opening up the newly-arrived Horizon Bound on a Bicycle book by Eyvind Earle. 4) Another late night at the office. 5) Erica taking a 4x5 photograph of me on my birthday… I didn’t have much say in the matter. 6) Reading the card Erica hand-made for me. 7) Going for a relaxing night-cruise on the Mark Twain in Disneyland.

Friday Mini-Feature: The art of Eyvind Earle.
Earle is most well-known for creating the highly-stylized look of Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. He was also responsible for the look of the Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom short I posted a few days ago.
