1) Erica getting back into hula-hooping. 2) Spending a day at the San Diego Science Center. 3) Drawing faces on ballons at one of our favorite mexican restaurants. 3) Gino and Matt singing along to Moulin Rouge at work. 4) We drove all the way down to Sea World for the weekend (to celebrate Xander’s birthday) and *this* was our favorite thing from the day. 5) Fireworks and Barry Manilow from our look-out spot above the Hollywood Bowl. 6) Xander insisted that Breaker come with us in the car - he loved it, Breaker seemed a bit over-stimulated.

1) Driving home from work just after a storm. 2) Having a pre-birthday dinner at Zach’s Cafe. 3) Opening up the newly-arrived Horizon Bound on a Bicycle book by Eyvind Earle. 4) Another late night at the office. 5) Erica taking a 4x5 photograph of me on my birthday… I didn’t have much say in the matter. 6) Reading the card Erica hand-made for me. 7) Going for a relaxing night-cruise on the Mark Twain in Disneyland.

erica hampton: On November 11 Mike turned 30. I had a surprise party in the works, hoping to make it a memorable birthday, but through a technical gliche in our iPad he found out! We decided to cancel dinner and go on a road trip for 5 days. Our first stop was Disneyland! Then we headed to San Diego, Julian and finally the Salton Sea. This panorama is taken somewhere between Julian and the Salton Sea on CA 78 in the Anzo-Borrego State Park. We love the desert and mountains and this area had plenty of both, it was fabulous.

For my recent 30th birthday, my little brother Dylan played me a song he’s been working on all summer long, the Entertainer. Pretty damn cute.

It is with great joy and privilege that we remind you of the year’s largest universal video capture project, One Day on Earth (ODOE). This Friday November 11th, 2011, people from all over the world will capture their experiences to share. Last year on 10.10.10 (October 10th, 2010), Vimeans came together through the ODOE project and filmed in EVERY single country in the world on the same day, creating over 3000 hours of shared footage and a feature film.

Don’t forget that today is your day to participate in One Day on Earth! I’m excited because this year the One Day project happens to fall on my 30th birthday. I’ll be recording all day long - can’t wait to see what other’s capture! 

Today feels like a Stardust kind of day. And I mean that in a the best way. Today I’m 29, tomorrow I’ll be 30. Here’s to another decade! To celebrate Erica and I are going to spend the next 5 days driving around southern California, maybe we’ll visit the zoo, maybe we’ll visit Disneyland, the Salton Sea, the Queen Mary, Catalina, Bed Bath & Beyond, only time will tell!
