BERNIE SANDERS AIMS TO OVERTURN CITIZENS UNITED v. FEC, BUT HE NEEDS OUR HELP! He is proposing a constitutional amendment entitled the Saving American Democracy Amendment, which states that:

  • Corporations are not persons with constitutional rights equal to real people.
  • Corporations are subject to regulation by the people.
  • Corporations may not make campaign contributions.
  • Congress and states have the power to regulate campaign finances.

I don’t have the numbers infront of me, but I do know that constitutional amendments on average have taken many, many years to pass; upwards of 20 years if I’m remembering correctly. Hell, the 27th amendment took 202 years to pass, not that 202 years is a normal amount of time required to add amendments. But still, I think these petitions, and these Congressional records are important, and whether it takes 2 years, 10 years, 60 years to undo this nightmare of corruption Citizens United has induced… it doesn’t really matter, it has to start somewhere.
